Massage, Oils, Bodywork! oh my...

Meet Jaquie! After months of searching and manifesting a Massage Therapist to join our NLY team, one winter day, Jaquie came into our studio community. We are so grateful! From the second we met, her warmth and kindness drew us in. As we grew to know her more, learning about her experience, training, and wellness goals for her practice, it as clear that Jaquie aligned perfectly with Northern Life Yoga. She is not only a talented masseuse but has also entered the world of bodywork with her expansive roster of education, knowledge, and passion for caring for others.

Jaquie was inspired to pursue Massage Therapy after working with little ones for a number of years as a nanny. She was looking into a new career path, and one with a little more zen.

“The idea of working with clients in a calm one-on-one environment intrigued me,” says Jaquie. “I was lucky enough to attend a program that offered training in other forms of bodywork and holistic wellness, which catapulted my passion for supporting the whole person – not just their muscles.”

Her roster of knowledge in a variety of healing modalities allows her to truly customize her clients experience. Here is how Jaquie describes her work:

“I have found muscle work to be a great foundation for my services. Beyond that, I like to take a customized approach. I like to talk with a client and hear about what they are noticing in their body and what their goals are. Then I offer options and different modalities that can be baked into their session to help achieve the results they are striving for. One session may be a lot of deep tissue, with warming oils to promote proper blood flow, another may involve cooling stones and sound frequencies via tuning forks - or anywhere in between.”

It’s like baking your own specific recipe that makes your whole body simmer in delicious healing… but it’s not the same recipe every time. Sometimes we want a delicious carrot cake, other times a chocolate chip cookie… but for bodywork!

Jaquie is looking forward to meeting new people and growing her roots in Sault Ste. Marie, where she moved for her husband’s job. She has grown to love our community as she explores the downtown shops and making the Upper Peninsula feel more and more like home, even in the short time she’s been here. She loves spending time with her husband, Ben, and their pet bunny. She’s an avid reader and crafter and loves learning about all areas of holistic wellness. Jaquie is looking forward to expanding her services into being a fully certified Holistic Birth Doula, which she will complete this summer.

We are so thankful to welcome Jaquie to our practitioner family! Pleas keep watch for Jaquie in our studio workshops, classes, and contact us to book a massage session!
