Gentle Classes
-
Chair Yoga is a practice that offers variations on yoga poses that can be done while seated in a chair. These modifications make yoga accessible to anyone who needs low-impact exercise to aid in improving mobility.
Chair yoga can also serve as a great introduction to yoga for beginners! While seated comfortably in a chair, students can experience twists, hip stretches, forward bends, and mild back-bends.
In addition to a good stretch, chair yoga participants can enjoy other health benefits from yoga, including improved muscle tone, better breathing habits, stress reduction, better sleep, and a sense of well being. -
Gentle yoga is for anyone new to yoga, eager to relieve stiffness, and/or seeking a gentle, less active practice! Intentional alignment cues and guided breathwork help familiarize new practitioners with the practice while reaffirming and building upon the foundations of seasoned yogis.
Gentle yoga provides numerous health benefits, including reduced stress, improved circulation, increased balance and flexibility, and improved sleep.
All levels and abilities welcome.
Level 1 - Ideal for beginners! -
Gentle Candlelight Yoga is a slow-paced and deeply nourishing practice that increases flexibility, releases stress, and untangles the deep connective tissues in your body in a soothing manner. The stillness from a candlelight yoga practice is an ideal balance to the active, stressful activities that fill our daily lives. You’ll be guided through poses and breathing techniques that provide a deep sense of peace and relaxation. Level 1 - ideal for beginners!
-
Slow Flow classes progress slowly and hold each pose for several breaths to strengthen and tone the entire body, while providing the foundations of a vinyasa style (yoga flow) class. This class style focuses on breath and alignment to explore feeling postures, rather than passing through poses. This great introductory yoga class allows beginners to learn the fundamentals of yoga and all practitioners to benefit from the calming effects of uniting body and mind.
Level 1-2, modifications provided for intermediate and advanced practitioners.
-
Slow Flow yoga classes build strength, endurance, and flexibility, while laying the groundwork for a more active Yoga Flow.
In Slow Flow, poses are held for several breaths to allow the body time to adjust to each pose before being cued to the next. Slow Flow provides time for the body to make adjustments and feel alignment cues while challenging the mind to stay quiet. -
Yoga Flow classes are designed to help you turn off the chatter in your brain by moving your body. This active, energizing sequence of yoga poses links breath to movement to enhance flexibility, strength, range of motion and concentration. Sequencing flows with upbeat music helps build heat to strengthen and tone the body.
Modifications are provided by instructors to accommodate all levels, though some yoga experience is recommended.Level 2: Yoga experience recommended, but modifications provided to suit students who are newer to yoga.
The studio is heated to around 70-72 degrees to aid in quickly warming practitioners’ muscles and connective tissues. This allows the body to find the full expression of poses while protecting against injury. Each student may practice at his/her level of energy and ability, and still receive benefits of the practice.
