Gentle Classes

  • Chair Yoga is a general term for practices that modify yoga poses so that they can be done while seated in a chair. These modifications make yoga accessible to people who have various physical limitations, or those who find other types of yoga classes too challenging. Chair yoga can also serve as a great introduction to yoga for those who are first-time yogis! While seated comfortably in a chair, students can enjoy versions of twists, hip stretches, forward bends, and mild back-bends. In addition to a good stretch, chair yoga participants can enjoy other health benefits from yoga, including improved muscle tone, better breathing habits, reduction of stress, better sleep, and a sense of well being.

  • Gentle yoga class is appropriate for anyone interested in yoga who might be concerned about the level of fitness required. If you are new to yoga, eager to relieve stiffness or just desire a gentler practice, this class suits your needs! Poses are thoughtfully sequenced to carefully ease your body into a more active state. Emphasis is placed on breath awareness and proper alignment. Gentle yoga provides numerous health benefits, including stress reduction, improved circulation, lower blood pressure, increased balance and flexibility, calmer mind, and improved sleep. All levels and abilities welcome. Level 1 - Ideal for beginners!

  • Offered in the Fall A slow-paced, gentle yoga class set to soothing music to relax your body and calm your mind in a warm, darker atmosphere illuminated by candles. Gentle yoga is a deeply nourishing practice that increases flexibility, releases stress and untangles the deep connective tissues in your body in a soothing and comfortable manner. The stillness from a candlelight yoga practice is an ideal balance to the active, stressful activities that fill our daily lives. You’ll be guided through poses and breathing techniques that provide a deep sense of peace and relaxation. Level 1 - ideal for beginners!

  • Need a flow without the rapid pace of our Yoga Flow classes? Slow flow sequences progress slowly and allow longer holds to strengthen and tone the entire body, while providing the foundations of a vinyasa style (yoga flow) class. Class focuses on breath and alignment to explore feeling postures, rather than simply seeing poses. This great introductory yoga class allows beginners to learn the fundamentals of yoga and all practitioners to benefit from the calming effect of uniting body and mind.  

    Level 1-2, modifications provided for intermediate and advanced practitioners.

  • Our flow classes are designed to cultivate an inward experience while stretching and recharging the body in a safe, effective way to provide both a work out and deep restoration. This active, energizing, skillfully-flowing sequence of yoga poses links breath to movement to enhance flexibility, strength, range of motion and concentration. Sequencing flows with upbeat music at a varied pace to build heat  and strengthen and tone throughout the body. Focus varies weekly on different therapeutic areas of the body. Modifications provided to accommodate all levels, though some yoga experience is recommended.   

    Level 2:  Yoga experience recommended, but modifications provided to suit students who are newer to yoga.

    The studio is heated to around 70-72 degrees to aid in quickly warming practitioners’ muscles and connective tissues. This allows the body to find a deeper release into poses held a considerable amount of time while protecting against injury. Each student can practice at his/her level of energy and ability, yet all receive the benefits of the practice.  

  • Summer Special This class is a unique summer experience that radiates positivity located at Ditmyer’s Red Barn Farm 2664 W. 5 Mile rd. SSM.

    The greenhouse is a great option for people who have naturally have tighter muscles. The warmth of the greenhouse encourages safe muscle stretching as well as a great workout.

    Join us enjoying the fresh air, vitamin D, mother nature, and the occasional Moo or Cluck from the farm animals.

Active Classes

  • Barre is a ballet, yoga and Pilates-inspired fitness class focusing on low-impact, high-intensity movements. This 40-minute workout with stretch, tone and strengthen your legs, glutes, arms and core while energizing your entire body. No experience needed! If it sounds intimidating, have no worries - you simply need an open mind and willingness to experience new movements to enjoy this upbeat class! Instructors explain each movement in a way that is safe, fun and easy to follow. Barre is great for all ages and abilities and modifications are provided to adjust for individual needs.

  • Yoga FIT is a fusion of Pilates and Yoga flow with an emphasis on core strength. It is a light-hearted, energetic class, and you do not need a background in either Pilates or Yoga to participate and experience the benefits.

    These high intensity flows focus on strength, flexibility, and posture to provide a dynamic, endorphin-boosting workout and are contrasted with low-impact lunges, squats, and sit-ups for a well-balanced fitness experience!
    This power-packed 45-minute class is an ideal way to start your week feeling motivated!

  • Gentle FIT was designed for people looking to improve balance and build strength through small, low-impact movements, using the ballet barre for support.

    This is a great class for anyone who enjoys Gentle Yoga and is looking for a class to get their heart pumping… gently.

Fitness Classes

Yoga Flow with Allie Brawley

We welcome you to experience the classes that best suit your needs and interests. Our classes are listed by level of difficulty from easiest to most challenging:

  • Gentle All Level (Level 1) provides a supportive environment in which beginning clients can learn the foundation of a yoga practice, while the more experienced practitioner will be able to fine tune the fundamentals of his/her practice. If you have any limitations in your body, level 1 classes provide modifications and guidance to keep you safe and comfortable throughout your practice. Level 1 classes are also pre-natal friendly - please inform your instructor prior to class so appropriate modifications can be provided for each phase of your pregnancy.

  • Chair Yoga modifies standard yoga poses to allow anyone with physical limitations to experience the full benefits of yoga from the comfort of a chair. This class is ideal for those who do not wish to get up/down from the mat due to knee or hip issues.

  • Gentle Yoga combines mat-based poses and standing poses at a pace that makes it easy for beginners to acclimate to the practice of yoga, while enjoying the benefits of peace and relaxation for the mind and body. Ideal for beginners!

  • Gentle/Yin Candlelight focuses on deep relaxation through restorative and yin poses that support the body with props through longer holds to nurture the joints, muscles and connective tissues. With a candlelight ambience, this mid-week stress reduction class is an ideal way to refresh the mind and body through gentle postures and breath work. Highly recommended for beginners!

  • Gentle Slow Flow involves slowly progressing sequences and longer holds to strengthen and tone the entire body while providing the foundations for a vinyasa style (yoga flow) class at a gentler pace. Modifications provided to suit all levels of practitioners.

  • Gentle FIT is a blend of functional Pilates and yoga movements that focuses on low-impact, gentle exercises aimed at improving balance and building strength, making this class great for those who enjoy Gentle Yoga as well as beginners!

  • Active (Level 2) – Classes designed for dedicated yoga practitioners who enjoy a continual challenge in their practice to emphasize strength and tone. Level 2 classes (yoga flow) offer options for all levels with some yoga experience: modifications for beginner flow clients and more active options for those who want an energetic experience involving creativity to explore more challenging poses. Level 2 classes are pre-natal friendly for those who have been practicing yoga continually.

  • Yoga FIT and Barre blend Pilates and yoga movements with an emphasis on core strength, toning, flexibility, and supported balance. These are light-hearted endorphin-boosting workouts, great for anyone seeking a challenge and a boost to their fitness routine! The barre is used for balance/posture only - no pressure to get your leg on the barre!

  • Yoga Flow is an active vinyasa style class of flowing movements at a varied pace to build heat, strength and flexibility. Focus varies weekly on therapeutic areas including hips, hamstrings, shoulders, back and core/balance. While some yoga experience is helpful, beginners seeking an active workout are welcome. Modifications make each practice attainable for beginner flow clients and challenging for seasoned practitioners. Ideal for those seeking a challenging workout combined with a deep stretch with mindfulness.
