Change is in the Air

The waning days of summer and crisp evening air can bring a sense of resistance to the upcoming change of season. Yet several weeks into the return to routine that occurs in September, we all seem to adapt and focus on the goodness autumn brings. Seasonal transitions and adapting to change – whether we like it or not – are part of our evolution.

As Northern Life Yoga approaches (lucky!) year 13, we are announcing three upcoming changes that will be part of our evolution:

·       Prices

·       Virtual classes

·       New scheduling app

Our pricing philosophy is simple – the greater the commitment, the greater discount. We’re proud to maintain such a peaceful studio environment and committed to offering an average of 10 classes weekly year-round. We absolutely understand our clients come and go through seasons of life or the calendar year. We’re so thankful for the dedicated yogis whose commitment to our classes contributes to a sustainable yoga studio plus the many visitors and new students who join us for classes and special events.

As we manage rising costs of labor and maintaining our space, prices will adjust as follows (effective September 1, 2022):

·       $108 unlimited membership (no change)

·       $60 flexible will be for 4 classes & $15 for any additional classes*

·       10 class pass - $170

·       10 class pass fitness only - $125

·       10 class pass chair yoga - $125

·       Yoga class drop in $20

·       Fitness or chair yoga drop in $15

*change will take effect with September 2022 auto-pay date

We strive to keep yoga affordable for anyone who wishes to practice with us. As always, our scholarship program is available and allows clients to set a budgeted amount on auto-pay for unlimited yoga. Visit our Scholarship Link for details or please feel free to ask us about it!

Virtual classes saved our studio during the pandemic and we’re so thankful for the ability to keep our community connected during an unprecedented time. Now that our studio classes are returning to pre-pandemic attendance, we feel it’s time to adjust to our new normal by focusing on studio classes. We hope you’ll understand our reasons:

·       Music – we miss our old playlists! Royalty-free music has a cost ($300/year subscription) and we’d like to return to the variety of playlists available when we’re not live streaming classes.

·       Adjustments – who is craving those savasana and child’s pose adjustments?! When instructors do not have to stay in front of a camera to demonstrate poses, we can freely move about the studio to offer occasional adjustments to those who enjoy them.

·       Focus – teaching to two audiences is tricky, especially when technology adds an occasional extra challenge in the middle of a down-dog. As instructors, we’d like to devote our energy to studio classes…after all, yoga is about being present! J

We completely appreciate those ultra dedicated clients who enjoy practicing from home or travel destinations (bravo on staying in practice!). So don’t fear, we have a great solution! Our Thrive Facebook page will feature four live streamed classes (Barre, gentle yoga, slow flow and yoga flow) until September 30, but members can still access replays after this time. In addition, virtual classes will be available through Videos OnDemand for any member, class pass or drop-in.

Lastly, our MindBody software has served us well for over a decade (and transitioned attendance from Excel spreadsheets in the early years), but it’s very costly and time for a change. We’re transitioning to ZenPlanner which caters to smaller studios like ours at a significant cost savings. You’ll simply need to download a new app (ZenPlanner) to access our schedule and register for classes. Feel free to keep your MindBody app active for when you travel to other destinations as it can be helpful to find classes in urban areas. Morgan researched many options over the summer and we’re confident ZenPlanner will be the best fit for Northern Life Yoga. As we onboard with ZenPlanner over the new few weeks, we aim to make the transition as seamless as possible for our community. If you have any questions while transitioning please feel free to contact Morgan.

Yes, it’s a lot of change amidst the transition from summer to fall – yet it’s all in support of sustaining Northern Life Yoga and our mission:

Our mission is to give the healing space and supportive guidance for students to empower strength, presence and peace through yoga, fitness and healing arts.

We invite you to adapt through these changes with us…just as our practice teaches us to transition from pose to pose and find peace in savasana. Thank you all for being the dynamic part of Northern Life Yoga’s evolution!
