NLY Keeps March-ing On

By Gabbie Pepin

March is shaping up to be a busy month at Northern Life Yoga. Not only did we reopen our studio doors on the first of the month, but we also have a virtual workshop and a couple series coming your way!

If you haven’t yet heard about everything going on this month, look no further! I’ll be giving a short run-down here of all our awesome updates and events and you can also check out our workshop and events page to see all the details about these very same offerings! We really don’t want you to miss them!

First up, and the most exciting, is that studio classes are being offered once again. We do have safety protocols in place because COVID is not yet behind us, so please make sure to check out our studio etiquette and pandemic protocols that are linked all over the website as well as here. In general, it’s important to remember that you’ll be required to wear a mask, as it’s still mandated by the state. We know it’s not the most comfortable way to practice, but if it means we can be together, it’s definitely worth it.

We’re also keeping our class size small: twelve mats can be socially-distanced on our studio floor plus there is additional space in the balcony for two more mats. We ask that you reserve your spot in advance so we can guarantee there will be room for you!

You’ll also need to bring all your own props and materials, so if there’s anything you don’t have, we try to keep our boutique stocked so you can purchase whatever you need directly from us! Order it ahead of time or come early to class to make sure you have everything you need for your practice! Be sure to read our protocols for the rest of our expectations and requirements!

Okay, moving on!

Our lovely, Lola Kennedy—reiki master in training, gentle and slow flow yoga and belly dance instructor—is offering tons of fun, energizing, and centering activities for all of us this month!

Whether or not you’ve checked out our Videos on Demand, you’re going to want to see what it’s all about this Friday, March 5th! Each Friday for the next seven weeks, Lola will be releasing a new video in her Chakra Movement Series that takes you through each of the seven chakras, or energy centers, in our bodies. This series is a great way to gain greater self-awareness, and find a deeper grounding and appreciation for your body and your inner self. With music by both Tyler Detloff and DJ Taz, Lola will guide you through movement and meditation to leave you feeling grounded, centered, and balanced: ready to take on anything!

But wait! There’s more!

Lola is also offering a belly dance workshop March 18 (6:00-7:30 PM) on Zoom!

This is a great way to grow more in tune with your body and how it moves, relieve stress, and just have a blast! Shake, shimmy, and learn how to isolate different muscle groups all while improving bone density, balance, and motor control! Whether you’ve tried belly dance before or if it’s completely new to you, come dance and laugh and learn! Prior experience isn’t necessary. You’ll sign off feeling rejuvenated.

Come shake off the cold of winter!

And if you love this workshop or you know it doesn’t work for your schedule, Lola is offering a six-week belly-dance series on Zoom to follow the workshop! Thursdays March 25 through April 29 (6:00-7:00 PM), Lola will spend more time breaking down some of the specifics of the belly dance style. You’ll gain all the same benefits as well as a deeper knowledge and practice than one workshop can provide. Let Lola guide you into spring, shimmying and dancing away the winter blues!

There is so much to look forward to at Northern Life Yoga this spring! Keep checking back in to our main Facebook page: facebook.com/northernlifeyoga, as well as our website: northernlifeyoga.com. Our website and Facebook page are the best places to find out what’s going on at the studio, and we keep them as up-to-date as possible!

Spread the news! Feel free to share our events on Facebook or tell your friends about our offerings. Every body is welcome!
