Opposite of “yang” practices (yoga flow) that build strength in the muscles, yin yoga is passive stretching to relax muscles and gently stretch the ligaments, tendons and fascia, which will results in a longer resting length of your connective tissue. In yin yoga, we “sink in” to poses, which are primarily reclined or seated, and often supported by props and held for 3-5 minutes. This relaxing into the pose also affects your energy pathways in body, inviting you to sink in to your subtle self as well. Combining yin yoga with Reiki healing energy is nurturing and restorative on many levels. It is a great way to balance out the physical and emotional practices of your life. Yin yoga is an ideal practice for beginners to yoga, so no experience is needed for this workshop - just show up, and we will guide you through a deeply healing and rejuvenating experience.
