Member Spotlight on Margo Sabourin: 1,100 Classes & Counting!

Margo Sabourin is one of our most dedicated yogis who brings a light and positivity to her favorite corner spot in the studio. She has been practicing yoga since her twenties and really became dedicated when Allie opened the studio, creating a space with year round classes to support a consistent practice. Her initial interest was in the physical aspects of yoga - stretching, working out - yet over time, her practice evolved to support her mind. As Margo says,

“Yoga allows me to close the door on what is happening in my head and brings me peace and calmness.”

Since 2011, Margo has attended over 1,100 classes - what an accomplishment! She loves all the classes Northern Life Yoga has to offer and enjoys various styles from chair yoga, gentle yoga and yoga flow. She says she can never get “bored” with yoga by attending a variety of classes. She explains that factor is what keeps her so motived and makes yoga a priority for her.

“Making time for yourself is a priority for me – I’m not doing it for anyone else; it’s not to keep my weight off; it’s for me, my body, and my mind,” says Margo.

Virtual yoga classes have helped her keep that motivation and dedication through the pandemic. It has also helped her maintain a positive outlook. When she plans her weekly schedule, she makes sure to plan time for her yoga classes to create that space for herself.

Many people see yoga and can be intimidated by some of the poses, but it really provides so much more than just the pose. It’s about how it makes you feel, which is one key reason why Margo has remained so dedicated to her practice. It can be about the physical health, but it is also about mental health and it's the combination of both that keeps people returning to the mat. With Tai Chi, chair yoga, gentle yoga to yoga flow plus barre and PiYo fitness classes - there really is a class for everyone at Northern Life Yoga. When you make yoga a priority in your life, it becomes a commitment to yourself and turns into a habit that enables you to enjoy both short-term and long term benefits. As Margo reflects on her long-time dedication, she says,

“Yoga has become a healthy habit. My whole body craves it - my mind, body, the breathing, the meditation, and the stretching. It’s important for me, personally. The more I do yoga, the better I feel."

We are so thankful for Margo's dedication and support of Northern Life Yoga for over a decade. Her dedication to wellness is inspiring!
